Muslim Dating servicesIn United Kingdom, British Muslims are accepting new ways of finding that special someone. Muhammad and Catherine who got married recently, met on the Internet on Singlemuslim.com. Launched on 2000, the site claims to be the world's leading Muslim introduction agency. It has half a million members and claims to have brought about 10-thousand marriages.

"A typical family may desire their son or their daughter to marry somebody similar to them, their kind of culture be it Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian or whatever their background is; whereas we're not always able to relate to somebody from that 'back home' kind of background. So we're looking for somebody who has a similar mindset to us and the Internet is just one additional avenue," said Muhammad.

But not all modern British Muslims are quick to embrace these new trends. "Personally, I wouldn't believe using an Internet site because we generally don't know what's going on, on the other side. You know, you don't know if the person is lying or not. So it's better if you just meet someone face to face and stuff like that," said Anisah Mohammed. For face-to face meetings, there is the introduction service AsianD8 that organises speed-dating events for various religious groups.
